Many residents have expressed concerns regarding plans to use the Holiday Inn Express, Rhoose, as housing under the Afghan Resettlement Programme. These concerns range from the lack of communication and consultation with local residents, to the suitability of the site. There are also concerns that claims made in the Council's statement may be misleading or wrong. Andrew RT Davies MS has challenged this, and put several questions to the Ministry of Defence. 

Vale Conservative councillors, meanwhile, have put several questions to the Council regarding its role in the matter.

The Labour Vale of Glamorgan Council offered the Holiday Inn Express to the Government to use for the Afghan Resettlement Programme, without consulting residents. Is this acceptable?
There was little to no communication with residents about the Hotel from either the Council or the UK Government. Is this acceptable?
Some residents have expressed concerns that using the Hotel for this purpose creates a precedent, under which it is used for housing in perpetuity, potentially as long term accommodation for asylum seekers. Does this concern you?
