Labour and “Vale Independent” plans to build the controver-sial A48-M4 link road must be stopped, Peterston Conservatives have said.
The plans are being championed by both the Labour-“Vale Independent” run Coun-cil and the Welsh Labour Government, despite vociferous objections from local people.
Pendoylan residents are rightly horrified by the plans, which include proposals to construct a viaduct through the village.
Peterston Conservatives do not believe the road is necessary, and instead think improvements to the existing road would be sufficient.
Vale Conservative Council Group Leader Cllr Vincent Bailey has pledged that a Conservative-run Council would not fa-vour the road and the destruction it will cause to the Ely Valley.
He wants the Council to rethink its pri-orities, and redirect resources from the J34 link road to the Dinas Powys by-pass, a much needed and popular project in the Eastern Vale.

Cllr Bailey said,
“Anyone who knows the Ely Valley would know these plans would decimate Pendoylan and neighbouring villages. But unfortunately, the Labour-run Council don’t seem to get it and are enthusiastic in their support. They have ignored residents’ concerns and are ploughing ahead regardless. A Conservative-run Council would not support the road. Instead, we want to see all resources focused on the J34 link road put towards the Dinas Powys By-Pass. But there will not be a Conservative Council without a Conservative councillor in the Peterston ward.
