Furlough Scheme
Self employed

Figures released today (18th June 2020) shows that 10,400 jobs have been protected in the Vale of Glamorgan though the UK Government's furlough scheme during the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to this 3,000 people who are self-employed have also been protected in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Commenting on the figures Alun Cairns MP said

Through this difficult period, during which so many have been adversely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, I am pleased that the UK Government has stepped up to support thousands of workers across the Vale. The furlough scheme and self-employment scheme has helped to protect jobs and local businesses.
I appreciate that we’re not through it yet, but I’m glad that the Chancellor has delivered on his promise to do whatever it takes to help people.
