Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Communities and Local Government, Mark Isherwood AM, has praised the work of local authorities across Wales for their work on battling Coronavirus.
At this time when council tax requests are being sent, many councils such as Monmouthshire and Conwy, are helping residents by differing monthly payments or are giving financial support to residents who need it.
Commenting, Mark Isherwood AM, said: “Councils, councillors, staff and volunteers are working around the clock to ensure that the services that many people rely on, can continue, whilst making sure that they minimise the spread of the virus. Councils are reporting receiving thousands of calls each day from local residents.
“I know that where possible councils, as the leaders of our communities, will be looking to help residents with council tax payments on a case by case basis.
“However, councils need additional support from the Welsh Government to ensure that the council tax support scheme is properly funded so that councils can continue to provide even more provision if necessary.”
