Matt Smith was born and bred in Cardiff where his family has always lived. Several generations of his family have lived and worked in Cardiff . His Dad was a factory worker his entire working life. His mother works at Cardiff University and is a voluntary Unison Auditor.

He is married to Julia and they have four children.Andrew’s background is in the business community – as a partner in the family farming business, based near Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.He is a former Vice President of Llantrisant Young Farmers Club and Chairman of Creative Communities, an organisation which seeks to develop structural community development.
