Today (19th September 2020) the new separating recycling scheme come to Barry. The Vale of Glamorgan Council will now ask residents to recycle waste in 6 different containers
-
Orange bag for cardboard
- White bag for paper
- Grey caddy for glass bottles and jars
-
Blue bag for plastic, cans, empty aerosols, foil and fruit and drink cartons
-
Green caddy for food waste
-
Green bag for garden waste
There will also be new vehicles collecting residents recycling. They have different compartments for the different materials, our collection crews will place your recycling directly into the correct compartments.
The recycling will then be taken to a recycling processing facility in Cowbridge where each compartment is emptied into their corresponding bays ready to be processed separately e.g. card bay, paper bay.
Please note: Residents living in flats and apartments with communal bin stores are excluded from the changes at this time
During the rollout of the new containers many residents had not received all or some of their containers.
Cllr Rachel Nugent-Finn said "It vital that this is a smooth process for residents and they should not have missing containers. That why myself and my other Conservative colleagues are asking residents if they have not received any or part of their new containers to contact us. Also if they have an issues with the collections to contact us too"
