Cllr Vince Driscoll, Shadow Cabinet for Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services & Transport has demanded a “calling-in” of the parking-charge scheme, preparations will have to be put on hold pending an examination by the council’s Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee.
Cllr Driscoll says further scrutiny of the scheme is required because the official consultation – undertaken by the Vale Council – was “flawed“:-
He says the Vale’s “consultation” was held during the height of the COVID-9 Pandemic – and at the time The Gem newspaper was not in circulation. These factors prevented adequate communication of the consultation.
Cllr Driscoll says that although public notices were put up at the site location, – again, this was at a time when local residents were encouraged to stay at home and only go out for essential travel.
